Y-incision
Chest-opening forensic slice
A Y-incision is the standard cut made during an autopsy to open the torso for examination.
Two diagonal cuts extend from each shoulder to the sternum, where they meet and continue as a single vertical cut down to the pubic bone, forming a Y shape.
The medical examiner made the Y-incision to begin the internal examination.
