ticker-tape parade
Confetti canyon celebration
A ticker-tape parade is a celebratory procession through city streets where crowds shower honorees with shredded paper from office windows above.
The name comes from the narrow paper strips that stock tickers once produced, which Wall Street workers threw during parades through Lower Manhattan.
Though ticker tape is obsolete, the tradition continues with confetti and shredded paper: The championship team got a ticker-tape parade down the Canyon of Heroes.
