Tasmanians

Southern Australian inhabitants

Tasmanians are people from Tasmania, the island state of Australia south of the mainland.

The term also refers to the indigenous Aboriginal people of Tasmania, whose population was devastated by European colonization in the 19th century.

The Tasmanians we met were proud of their island's wilderness.
