T-section

Three-way beam profile

A T-section is a structural beam or bar with a cross-section shaped like the letter T—a vertical stem meeting a horizontal flange at the top.

Common in construction and engineering, T-sections provide strength while minimizing weight: The roof was supported by steel T-sections.

Also called a T-beam or tee.
