Siena

Historic Tuscan commune

Siena is a city in Tuscany, central Italy, known for its medieval architecture and the Palio, a historic horse race held twice yearly in the main square.

The city gives its name to sienna, a reddish-brown earth pigment used in art: burnt sienna, raw sienna. (Lowercase sienna is the color.)
