Santa's reindeer

Rooftop hoofed team

Santa's reindeer are the flying animals that pull Santa Claus's sleigh on Christmas Eve.

The traditional eight—Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen—come from an 1823 poem.

Rudolph, with his glowing red nose, was added in 1939 by a department store copywriter and became the most famous of the group.
