pack mules
Mountain cargo carriers
Pack mules are mules used to carry loads over difficult terrain.
Mules—the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse—are prized for their sure-footedness, endurance, and ability to navigate narrow mountain trails where vehicles cannot go.
The term extends figuratively to anyone who does the heavy carrying: I'm not your pack mule—carry your own gear.
