Roman Britain
Londinium's imperial era
Roman Britain refers to the period when the island of Britain was part of the Roman Empire, roughly from the invasion under Emperor Claudius in 43 CE until the early fifth century.
The term also designates the territory itself during this occupation, which extended across most of modern England and Wales but never fully incorporated Scotland.
Roman Britain saw the construction of roads, cities, and fortifications like Hadrian's Wall, leaving lasting marks on British geography and culture.
