Rio Grande Valley
Southern Texas region
The Rio Grande Valley is the southernmost region of Texas, a fertile agricultural area along the lower Rio Grande near the Mexican border.
Despite the name, it's more floodplain than valley.
The region is known for citrus farming, winter tourism, and its predominantly Hispanic culture.
Locals often shorten it to the Valley: She grew up in the Valley.
