Prima
Leading in Italian
Prima, from Italian, means “first” or “foremost” and is used in various contexts to denote excellence or precedence.
In ballet, a prima ballerina is the lead female dancer, often celebrated for her technical skill and stage presence.
In opera, prima donna originally referred to the leading female singer but now also describes someone with a demanding or self-important attitude.
In music, prima can signify the first or main part, as in prima voce (lead voice).
She was the prima ballerina of the company, commanding the stage with every movement.
