Polystyrene
Cheap packing material
Polystyrene is a synthetic polymer made from styrene, widely used to make rigid plastic products and, in its expanded form, lightweight foam packaging and insulation.
The foam version, often called Styrofoam (a trademark), appears in disposable cups, takeout containers, and packing peanuts.
The fragile vase arrived cushioned in polystyrene.
Environmental concerns surround polystyrene because it does not biodegrade and is difficult to recycle.
