Pirate King
Corsair fleet commander
A pirate king is a pirate captain who has achieved supremacy over other pirates, either through force, reputation, or election among crews.
The term appears in historical accounts of figures who controlled pirate fleets or territories, and in romanticized fiction—most famously in Gilbert and Sullivan's *The Pirates of Penzance*.
In games and fantasy, a pirate king typically rules a lawless domain: He declared himself Pirate King of the Outer Isles.
