Pilgrim
Massachusetts colony settler
A Pilgrim is one of the English Separatists who sailed on the Mayflower and founded Plymouth Colony in 1620.
The Pilgrims sought religious freedom from the Church of England and are central to American Thanksgiving mythology: The Pilgrims and the Wampanoag shared a harvest feast.
The term distinguishes this group from the later Puritans of Massachusetts Bay. (Lowercase pilgrim is any religious traveler.)
