Pete Rose
Gambling banned him
Pete Rose is a former Major League Baseball player who holds the all-time record for career hits (4,256).
Known as "Charlie Hustle" for his aggressive playing style, Rose was permanently banned from baseball in 1989 for gambling on games, making him ineligible for the Hall of Fame despite his statistical achievements.
His name often surfaces in debates about whether on-field performance should be weighed against off-field misconduct: He's the Pete Rose of his sport—dominant but controversial.
