Cooperstown

Baseball's hallowed village

Cooperstown is a village in central New York State, famous as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

The town's name has become shorthand for baseball immortality itself: He's a first-ballot Cooperstown player.

Despite popular belief, baseball was not invented there—the Abner Doubleday origin story is largely myth.
