Perl

Regex-heavy scripting language

Perl is a programming language developed in the late 1980s, widely used for text processing, system administration, and web development.

The name originally stood for "Practical Extraction and Reporting Language." Perl became famous for its flexibility and powerful regular expressions, though its dense syntax earned a reputation for being difficult to read: The script was written in Perl.

The language's motto, "There's more than one way to do it," reflects its permissive design philosophy.
