Lua

Embedded scripting language

Lua is a lightweight programming language designed for embedding in other applications.

The name comes from Portuguese for "moon." Lua powers scripting in video games, where it handles game logic without requiring recompilation: World of Warcraft addons are written in Lua.

Its small footprint and simple syntax make it popular for configuration files and extending software.
