Padre

South Texas resort

Padre is Spanish and Italian for father, used in English primarily for a military chaplain or, in Catholic contexts, a priest.

Soldiers might speak of the padre without specifying denomination.

In casual address, padre can mean any older man, though this sounds dated: Hey, padre, got a light?
