Norman conquest
Normandy's military expansions
A Norman conquest is any military or territorial takeover by the Normans—the medieval people of Normandy who conquered territories across Europe and the Mediterranean, including parts of Italy and Sicily.
The phrase can also be used loosely for any decisive victory by someone named Norman: His promotion was a real Norman conquest. (Capitalized Norman Conquest refers to the 1066 invasion of England.)
