Nausicaa is a figure from Homer's *Odyssey*—the Phaeacian princess who discovers the shipwrecked Odysseus on the beach and guides him to her father's palace.
The name appears in literary and classical contexts, and was borrowed by Hayao Miyazaki for his manga and film *Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind*.
