Fake leather brand
Naugahyde is a brand name for vinyl-coated fabric designed to imitate leather, widely used for upholstery on furniture, car seats, and diner booths.
The material became so common that the name often appears lowercase as a generic term for any artificial leather: The old couch was covered in cracked naugahyde.
It suggests something cheap or dated compared to genuine leather.
