Restaurant wall bench
A banquette is a long upholstered bench, typically built into a wall or placed against one, often used for seating in restaurants: We slid into the banquette by the window.
The term also applies to a raised walkway or ledge, particularly along a fortification or the inside of a trench.
In the American South, especially New Orleans, banquette is an old-fashioned word for sidewalk.
