Milton Erickson
Milton Erickson (1901–1980) was an American psychiatrist who pioneered indirect approaches to hypnotherapy.
Rather than issuing direct commands, Erickson used storytelling, metaphor, and conversational techniques to bypass conscious resistance.
His methods influenced neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and modern brief therapy.
Ericksonian hypnosis refers to his permissive, patient-centered style.
