stage hypnosis

Stage hypnosis is hypnosis performed as entertainment before an audience, typically in theaters or comedy clubs.

Volunteers from the crowd are guided into a suggestible state and prompted to perform amusing or embarrassing acts—clucking like chickens, forgetting their names, or believing they're celebrities.

The practice blurs the line between genuine trance states and social compliance, since volunteers often play along to avoid disappointing the crowd.
