Gestalt therapy
Present-moment healing approach
Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy emphasizing present-moment awareness and personal responsibility rather than past traumas or unconscious drives.
The approach focuses on how people experience thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the here and now: The therapist asked what I was feeling right now, not what happened in childhood.
Techniques include role-playing, empty-chair dialogues, and attention to body language.
The name comes from German *Gestalt*, meaning form or whole—the therapy treats the person as an integrated whole rather than a collection of symptoms.
