Magenta

Piedmont region municipality

Magenta is a vivid purplish-red color, sitting between red and blue on the color spectrum.

In printing and design, magenta is one of the primary colors in the CMYK model, combined with cyan and yellow to produce a full range of hues.

The color takes its name from a battle fought near the Italian town of Magenta in 1859, around the time a dye of this shade was developed.
