LL.B.

First legal credential

LL.B. is the abbreviation for Bachelor of Laws, from the Latin *Legum Baccalaureus*.

It is the traditional undergraduate law degree in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other common-law countries.

In the United States, the LL.B. was the standard law degree until most schools replaced it with the J.D. (Juris Doctor) in the 1960s.
