Hollywood's basketball team
The LA Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, competing in the NBA's Western Conference.
One of the league's most storied franchises, the team has won seventeen championships.
The name originated when the franchise was located in Minneapolis, Minnesota—the "Land of 10,000 Lakes"—and was retained after relocating to Los Angeles in 1960.
The Lakers are playing the Celtics tonight.
