Industrial Age
Mechanization's defining period
The Industrial Age is the period beginning in the late 18th century when manufacturing shifted from hand production to machine-based factories, fundamentally transforming economies and societies.
It brought urbanization, mass production, and new social classes.
The term often contrasts with what came before (agrarian society) or after (the Information Age): Skills that mattered in the Industrial Age are less relevant today.
