Indian people

Bharatiya citizens collectively

Indian people are natives or inhabitants of India, or people of Indian descent.

The term can also refer to Indigenous peoples of the Americas—American Indians or Native Americans—though this usage, stemming from Columbus's geographic confusion, has become contested.

Context usually clarifies which meaning is intended: Indian people have contributed enormously to the tech industry versus Indian people lived on these lands for thousands of years.
