gold eagles
Ten-dollar pieces
Gold eagles are U.S. gold coins, minted since 1795 in denominations based on the original ten-dollar eagle: the double eagle (twenty dollars), eagle (ten), half eagle (five), and quarter eagle (two-fifty).
Modern American Gold Eagle bullion coins, introduced in 1986, continue the tradition in fractional troy-ounce weights for investors and collectors.
