Howdy Doody
Freckled TV marionette
Howdy Doody was a freckled, red-haired marionette who starred in a popular American children's television program from 1947 to 1960.
The name survives mainly in the expression it's Howdy Doody time, used to announce that something is about to begin or that a situation has arrived.
Someone who looks like Howdy Doody has a goofy, wide-eyed, eager-to-please appearance.
