James Dean
James Dean was an American film actor who became a cultural icon of teenage rebellion and disillusionment in the 1950s.
His brooding intensity in *Rebel Without a Cause* and *East of Eden* defined a new style of emotionally raw, Method-influenced screen acting.
His death in a car crash at twenty-four cemented his legend as a symbol of youthful defiance cut tragically short: He had that James Dean look—leather jacket, cigarette, smoldering discontent.
