Hammerstein
Rodgers' creative partner
Hammerstein is a surname, most famously associated with Oscar Hammerstein II (1895–1965), the American lyricist and librettist who transformed musical theater through collaborations with Richard Rodgers.
Their partnership produced *Oklahoma!*, *The Sound of Music*, *South Pacific*, and *Carousel*.
The name often appears shorthand for the Rodgers and Hammerstein body of work: a Hammerstein lyric, the Hammerstein era of Broadway.
