Bob Fosse

Bob Fosse was an American choreographer and director whose distinctive style—characterized by turned-in knees, rolled shoulders, bowler hats, and jazz hands—revolutionized Broadway and film musicals in the mid-to-late twentieth century.

His work on *Cabaret*, *Chicago*, and *All That Jazz* earned him eight Tony Awards and an Academy Award.

Fosse's name has become shorthand for a particular sensual, angular aesthetic: That dance number is very Fosse.
