Golgi body
Cell's shipping center
A Golgi body is a structure within cells that processes and packages proteins for transport—like a cellular post office.
Also called the Golgi apparatus or Golgi complex, it appears as a stack of flattened membrane sacs.
Named for the Italian physician Camillo Golgi, who discovered it in the late 1800s.
