dead drop
Covert exchange site
A dead drop is a secret location where one person leaves something for another to retrieve later, avoiding direct contact between them.
The term comes from espionage tradecraft—a spy might leave microfilm under a park bench or in a hollow tree for a handler to collect.
The agent signaled that a package was waiting at the dead drop.
The concept extends to any covert exchange where parties never meet face-to-face.
