Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer of the early Romantic period, known especially for his lieder (German art songs) and chamber music.
He composed over six hundred songs, including "Erlkönig" and "Ave Maria," along with symphonies, piano works, and string quartets.
Though he died at thirty-one, his melodic gifts made him one of the most beloved composers in the Western classical tradition.
