Enigma code
Wartime German encryption
The Enigma code was the encryption system used by Nazi Germany during World War II, produced by the Enigma machine—an electromechanical device with rotating cipher wheels.
Allied codebreakers at Bletchley Park, including Alan Turing, cracked the system, gaining intelligence that significantly shortened the war.
They intercepted messages encoded with Enigma.
