Dungeons and Dragons
Fantasy tabletop game
Dungeons and Dragons is a tabletop role-playing game where players create characters and embark on fantasy adventures guided by a dungeon master who narrates the story and controls the world.
Players roll dice to determine outcomes of combat, spells, and skill checks.
First published in 1974, it pioneered the role-playing game genre and remains its most influential example: We played D&D every weekend in high school.
Often abbreviated D&D.
