D.S.
From the mark
D.S. is a musical notation abbreviation for dal segno, meaning "from the sign." It directs a performer to go back to a marked point in the score and repeat: The chart says D.S. al fine, so we play from the sign to the end.
Common in jazz charts, pop music, and classical scores as a space-saving repeat device. (Lowercase d.s. is the same abbreviation.)
