Counterculture

Hippie movement era

Counterculture is a way of life that deliberately rejects mainstream society's values and norms.

The term emerged in the 1960s to describe youth movements opposing conventional attitudes toward drugs, sexuality, politics, and authority: the counterculture of the sixties.

Any subculture actively opposed to dominant culture qualifies: punk counterculture, online counterculture.
