Condorcet

French revolutionary philosopher

Condorcet refers to the Marquis de Condorcet, an 18th-century French philosopher and mathematician who developed influential ideas about voting systems.

In modern usage, Condorcet appears almost exclusively in voting theory: a Condorcet winner is a candidate who would beat every other candidate in head-to-head matchups, and a Condorcet method is any voting system designed to select such a winner when one exists.

There was no Condorcet winner because the preferences formed a cycle.
