Chanukka

Eight-night Jewish holiday

Chanukka is a variant spelling of Hanukkah, the eight-day Jewish festival of lights commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

The holiday involves lighting candles on a menorah, one additional candle each night.

Multiple transliterations exist because the word comes from Hebrew, which uses a different alphabet: Chanukah, Hannukah, Chanukka, and others all represent the same festival.
