Cakewalk

Digital audio workstation

A cakewalk is something easily accomplished: Getting the job was a cakewalk.

The term comes from a 19th-century dance competition among enslaved Black Americans, where couples promenaded in elaborate, exaggerated style—the most graceful won a cake as prize.

The dance looked effortless when done well, which gave rise to the sense of easy success.
