Broadway adaptation
Musical theater version
A Broadway adaptation is a stage musical or play reworked from existing source material—a film, novel, or other work—for production in New York's Broadway theater district.
The term usually refers to musicals based on popular movies: The Lion King Broadway adaptation won six Tony Awards.
These productions often feature expanded songs, reimagined staging, and material suited to live performance.
