trophy hunter
Seeks mounted heads
A trophy hunter is someone who hunts animals primarily to obtain body parts—heads, antlers, hides, tusks—as display pieces rather than for meat or population control.
The term carries strong negative connotations, suggesting vanity and disregard for wildlife: Trophy hunters pose with dead lions on social media.
Figuratively, a trophy hunter pursues conquests for status—collecting prestigious degrees, wealthy partners, or other symbols of achievement.
