Alba Longa

Pre-Roman Latin city

Alba Longa was an ancient Latin city in central Italy, traditionally regarded as the mother city of Rome.

According to Roman legend, Aeneas's son Ascanius founded it, and it remained the dominant power in Latium until Rome destroyed it around the 7th century BCE.

The city figures prominently in Rome's origin mythology, including the story of Romulus and Remus.
