AR-10
Armalite's original design
The AR-10 is a lightweight automatic rifle designed by Eugene Stoner in the 1950s, chambered for the 7.62×51mm NATO cartridge.
It became the basis for the smaller AR-15 and M16 platforms.
Today AR-10 refers broadly to rifles built on this pattern, popular for hunting and long-range shooting: He bought an AR-10 for elk season.
