10-gallon hat
Western rider's crown
A 10-gallon hat is a large cowboy hat with a high crown and wide brim, associated with the American West and Texas in particular.
The name doesn't reflect actual capacity—the hat holds nowhere near ten gallons.
It may derive from the Spanish *galón* (braid), referring to decorative hatbands: He walked in wearing boots and a 10-gallon hat.
